# Achievements

Achievements celebrate members when their recorded voice time or counted message total reaches a milestone. They are collectible milestones and do not give or remove Discord roles.

Voice and message achievements are independent. A member can unlock a voice achievement without reaching the matching message limit, and the same applies in reverse.

## Configuration

1. Open **Achievements** under **Modules** in the dashboard.
2. Choose the text channel where new achievements should be announced.
3. Enable **Achievements**.
4. Keep both achievement series active, or pause the series you do not want to use.
5. Save your changes.

The announcement channel must remain available to VoiceStats. Make sure the bot can view the channel, send messages, and attach files.

## Voice and Message Achievements

Voice and message achievements have separate cards and switches. Both are active by default:

* **Voice achievements** reward members for their total recorded voice time.
* **Message achievements** reward members as their counted message total grows.

You can pause either series without turning off the entire Achievements module. While a series is paused, members cannot unlock new achievements from that activity. Achievements they already unlocked remain saved.

At least one series must remain active while the Achievements module is enabled.

## Achievement Names and Limits

Select **Edit series** on the voice or message card to view its achievement tiers.

Free servers use the default names and limits. Premium servers can:

* Give each achievement a custom name.
* Set separate limits for voice hours and message totals.
* Restore the default names or limits at any time.

Names and limits are managed separately for each series. For example, changing a voice achievement does not change the matching message achievement. Clear a custom name to use its default name again.

Voice limits use whole hours, and message limits use counted messages. Limits must increase from one tier to the next; a higher tier cannot have a smaller or equal requirement. Custom names can contain up to 40 characters.

## When Achievements Are Awarded

Active voice achievements are checked after the member's next tracked voice activity. Active message achievements are checked as the member sends counted messages.

Enabling the module does not send a large batch of announcements for every member immediately. If someone already qualifies for several achievements, VoiceStats checks them after their next relevant activity and groups the newly unlocked achievements into one announcement.

Activity excluded by the server's bot, member, channel, or role filters does not count toward achievements.

## Turning the Module Off and Resetting Stats

Turning Achievements off pauses checks and announcements for both series. Achievements already unlocked by members remain saved and continue normally if the module is enabled again.

Resetting a member's statistics also resets that member's achievement progress for the server. Resetting all server statistics resets achievement progress for the server as well.

## Troubleshooting

If an achievement is not announced, check the following:

* The Achievements module is enabled.
* The matching voice or message series is active.
* An announcement channel is selected.
* VoiceStats can view the channel, send messages, and attach files.
* The member performed the matching voice or message activity after reaching the limit.
* The activity is not excluded by one of the server's filters.

If VoiceStats cannot attach the achievement card, it can still send the announcement text when it has permission to send messages.
